Windshield wipers are an absolute necessity when driving in the rain. They give you good visibility when you need it.
But what do you do when your windshield wipers get damaged?
Well, if you’re wondering how to install windshield wipers, then good news for you. In this article, we’ll discuss the entire process with simple instructions.
So, without further ado, let’s begin.
3 Steps of How to Install Windshield Wipes
Installing new windshield wipers is actually not that hard. It’ll take around 15-20 minutes at most, even less if you’ve some experience.
Step 1: Buy New Wipes
You should keep one thing in mind before you go out and the new wipes. Remember to buy the windshield wipers for your exact car model. In simpler terms, take note of your car’s year and variant.
Now, go to your local auto repair shop or online store and give them the information. They’ll give you a variety of options to choose from.
Although, don’t go out buying the most expensive or the cheapest one. Try to find something in the middle and buy wipes for both of your blades.
It’s better to buy them in pairs. In most cases, once a blade goes bad, the other will most likely go bad too.
Step 2: Remove the Old Wipers
First of all, pick up the wipes to keep them in a vertical position. Now, turn the wipes in an upright position so that you can see the hinges.
This is where you’ll see a small on the corner of the hinge. In order to separate the arm and the blade pull it with a little bit of pressure. Don’t worry if you hear a snapping sound, it’s normal.
Although, if your tab is somehow broken, a key should do the trick.
After you’ve separated the arm and the blade, bring out the blade from one of the holes on the blade.
Now that you’ve removed the blades, the wipers are basically metal bars. So, make sure not to leave them up. If they somehow fall on your windshield, it could do some damage.
Step 3: Install New Wipers
Now it’s time to install the new wipers. So, pick up the new wipers and slide them through the right hole.
It’s important that you know which hole to use for the installation. In order to determine the hole, adjust the hinge in an upright position with the wiper. Then, put it along with the arm’s hook so that it goes over the hinge.
After the arm into the hole, line it with the hook and merge them together. You’ll hear a clicking sound when it’s merged.
Well, that’s it. Now, go and enjoy your brand-new windshields.
So, that’s all we had to say about how to install windshield wipers. Hopefully, our step-by-step guide helped you in the process.
Before wrapping, a piece of advice for you. You can always use your old wipers to wipe off your bathroom mirrors.
