How to Install Headers
Here are the steps to installing your exhaust header that we were talking about-
Step 1: Unpack Everything
You need to unpack the new header and check out all the new hardware and implements that you have in there.
Make sure that you have everything that you need in the pack that comes with the header.
Step 2: Unplug the Electrical Parts
You should disconnect your negative battery terminal and also unplug the electrical oxygen sensors. It’s for your own safety so that you don’t get electrocuted.
Step 3: Remove the Mid-Pipe
You need to unbolt your exhaust’s mid-pipe from your stock manifold. Make sure that you remove it COMPLETELY. Now, install the new header. But as it is heavy, you need to be really cautious while you do it.
Step 4: Disconnect All Hardware and Equipment
You need to disconnect any hardware and equipment that stops you from properly accessing your manifold.
Your spark plugs can be removed and alternators can be placed out of the way. Also, keep in mind that you need to remember where every plug or connection goes. Or else it’s going to be a huge mess for you.
Step 5: Remove the Manifold
Now, you need to unbolt and remove your manifold. You see, often you might need to unbolt both from above and below.
On the other hand, you might need to unbolt from both the driver’s and passenger’s sides. Also, as your engine comes together, you’ll need to access your manifold and unbolt it from two different vantage points.
